Show Notes
Recorded live on September 30, 2026, this Vision Cast has Rita in the host chair, opening from Guadalupe, Arizona with her electrifying guitar intro, and the best news of the night comes first: Rachel is back after a week under the weather. The two trade Rebel Rita and Rebel Rachel nicknames before the roll call brings in JC, George, Preston, Nora, Donald, Phillip, and Salvis on the audio controls. Phillip calls in from a train platform, thoroughly out of breath from the stairs but triumphantly not late. Preston opens the announcements with a salute to Donald, whose Music Mayhem Marathon filled the whole weekend with shows pulled from the archive. Tuning in across Friday and Saturday, Preston caught old episodes with friends guest co-hosting, and was tickled to hear George and Rachel broadcasting over Skype back in the day, part of what George calls the Echo Project. As Donald points out, half the joy of the older shows is hearing the technology of the era right along with them. Then comes the calendar, and it is a full one. The final Vision Cast Music Mayhem hybrid show of 2026 lands on October 23. The Vision Cast Halloween party is recorded on October 28 , and the last KSRN show of the year follows on October 30. The hybrid returns on January 8, 2027. Christmas Wonderland Radio switches on November 1 , and George and Rachel will co-host a Halloween-into-Christmas show across both stations. The talent show on October 14 is shaping up too, with Nora sending in her performances, Donald packing a zip file of songs, and Rachel hosting the whole thing from her Mac. Rachel also updates the room on the KSRN interview with Sriram from the Lumin voice-email app, postponed once when he was ill and again when she was, and now being put back on the books. JC then takes the floor for the demo of the week: MaccessHub, a free and open-source macOS menu-bar app from developer masonasons, available on GitHub. Built with VoiceOver users in mind, it brings back event sounds, key clicks and spoken system information, adds audio-device switching on the fly, and ships with soundpacks, automatic updates and a launch-at-login option. Best of all, it folds a pile of older Hammerspoon accessibility scripts into one native app, so nobody has to go anywhere near Xcode to get their sounds back. Rachel answers with another of her AI-generated comedy songs, and George is once again the target: a road-trip saga about a bathroom emergency that goes about as undignified as these things can go. The room does not recover quickly. Rita brings the night home with radio nostalgia, remembering KZZP in Phoenix, the Top 40 station she grew up on, and its golden era from 1985 to 1989 under program director Guy Zapoleon. She has been part of a KZZP history group online for four years now, and still finds herself reminiscing over what radio used to be. JC closes with a hope for an October jam session, and a promise to finally introduce the team to Ariel, a songwriter who can write a song on the spot. Old radio, new tools, and a family back at full strength. Recorded 2026-09-30. Final length 1 hour 42 minutes 16 seconds, mastered to -14 LUFS.If you’re interested in learning more about Max hub, please visit:http://www.github.com/masonasons/maccesshub/releases
